Norway Commits $454 Million for Artillery Ammunition to Support Ukraine

The Norwegian government has announced it will allocate approximately $454 million to purchase artillery ammunition for Ukraine. This significant commitment aims to bolster Ukraine's defense capabilities amidst the ongoing conflict with Russia.
Breakdown of Funding Allocation
Of the total amount, around $363 million will be directed towards a Czech-led initiative that has been instrumental in providing Kyiv with artillery shells. This initiative has already successfully delivered 1.5 million rounds of ammunition to Ukraine throughout 2024, including 500,000 large-caliber shells of 155mm and 152mm. According to Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsky, funding is secured to ensure continued monthly deliveries to Ukraine until September 2025. Additionally, $91 million will be allocated to the European Peace Fund (EPF). The EPF is pivotal in financing purchases of weapons for Ukraine, demonstrating a unified European effort to support the embattled nation.
