It’s hard not to notice my inbox lately: every day I see more pitches from so-called PR agencies promising guaranteed coverage in top outlets. These pay-to-play schemes seem to be on the rise in the creative world, and too many talented entrepreneurs have learned the hard way that the promises are empty. One media veteran on LinkedIn put it bluntly: “there’s no need to pay to play with PR and media features”. I agree – authentic publicity comes from strategy and storytelling, not handing over a check.
