Finnair Announces New Route to Norway’s Alta, the City of Aurora

Seoul, April 14, 2025 – Finnair has revealed plans to expand its operations in Northern Europe, introducing a new route to Alta, Norway, renowned as the “City of Aurora.” The airline will commence flights on March 29, 2026, with a schedule of five flights per week to cater to growing travel demand.

This new route marks the only direct connection available between South Korea and Northern Europe, signaling a significant enhancement of Finnair's network in the region. In addition to Alta, Finnair will increase its flight frequency to several other popular destinations in Norway. The Tromso route will transition from seasonal winter service to an all-year-round offering at five flights per week, while the Kirkenes route will also expand from three to five flights per week.

Finnair's leisure travel offerings are not limited to Norway. Popular destinations like Stockholm, Sweden, and Copenhagen, Denmark, will also see service ramped up to daily flights, while Reykjavik, Iceland, will have two additional flights per week.

Alta is well-known for its stunning natural beauty, particularly the Northern Lights, and offers various outdoor activities for tourists. The town has gained recognition as a significant cruise destination as well.

Promotional Offers for Travelers

In conjunction with the route expansion, Finnair will launch a special promotional campaign aimed at South Korean travelers planning trips to Europe during the fall and winter seasons. The promotion will feature discounted rates for 21 European routes, including key cities such as Helsinki, Stockholm, Copenhagen, and Oslo.

Booking will be available from April 17 to May 2, with the travel period set from September 1 to December 11. Roundtrip fares to major European cities like Rome, Milan, and Paris are expected to start from approximately 800,000 KRW, under the Economy Light fare basis.

Per Tøllefsen, Vice President of Finnair's Network Division, expressed optimism regarding this network expansion, stating, "We hope that this enhancement will enable Korean travelers to enjoy a more convenient experience while discovering the charms of Northern Europe during the summer."

This strategic move by Finnair is anticipated to attract more South Korean tourists interested in exploring the unique offerings of Northern Europe, including its spectacular natural scenery and thriving cultural experiences.
